A few more pics.. =)

A busy few days!

Well the last week has been crazy good! We roomed-in at the hospital on Wednesday night (11/18) and Noah and Sam finally got to 'really' meet their baby sister, Addison! They were besides themselves! After all the paper work was done, we were able to speak with the neonatologist, make all of the follow-up appointments for Addison, etc, we were able to come home with our baby on Thursday (11/19) afternoon.

Friday was a day of just relaxing and lounging around (I loved all our NICU nurses but like I've told my patients in the past, I'd rather run into them at Target or the park than at the hospital!)!!!

Saturday we had a little impromptu celebration (any reason for a cake, right?!!??!) so that Uncle Miah and the rest of the cousins could meet Addison and we could celebrate our baby being home!

We've been so blessed and are so humbled by all the support we've rec'd in the last month (wow - can't believe it's already been that long since everything happened)! From such scary situation has come such a beautiful one - we thank everyone for the prayers, it's what has helped to get us through this ordeal and has kept us strong!!! God bless!

Coming home, celebrating and a little RTR!

Pics of Addison from 11/9-13,2009

Tiny toes, BIG YAWNS, sweetness all around!

Mom is better, just waiting on Addison to come home!

MRI is CLEAR!!!! Neurologist feels like what she saw on the last MRI was a direct result of the sudden/quick increase in BP and that the decisions that were made, were made appropriately and quickly! I feel blessed to have angels (u know who u r) in the right place and the right time who took care of me so that I'm sti...ll here today! I'm alive, healthy, have a healthy baby girl and a wonderful family! God bless everyone for all the prayers - they have been helping!!!!

11/10/09 Update

Addison is taking in 35cc's of formula every 3 hours with one of those feedings being by mouth. Today the NP wrote to increase her feedings from 1 x PO (by mouth) to 2 x PO with the rest being still going thru her NG tube....this is a good step! When they feed her PO, she's only taking 10 cc's by the bottle (they only give her about 10 mins to try PO so she won't burn off the calories that she's taking in!). Last night she weighed 3 pounds, 15.8 ounces!!! The neonatologist is thinking that the feedings by mouth will "click" with her in the next week or so....if she can go to all PO feedings with constant wt gain, then she can go home! She isn't on any meds and her VS have been great - breathing on her own, etc. The NICU mgr was planning and said that she thought that she would be out of there in the next week or so, maybe hopefully by Thanksgiving.....that would make it the best Thanksgiving ever!!!!
She had been looking a lot like Sam but now the RNs are thinking she looks more like me!

Mike and I have been splitting our time and he has been really sweet and giving me as much opportunity to see her during the day and then he goes when our house settles down later in the evening. He's there right now and hopefully we'll see how much she's gained (they weigh and bathe, etc at night).

Will be posting some new pics of Addison in her pink - she's super cute and sweet (but I'm a little partial, I know)! =)

Keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming - I know it's helping me stay energized and able to stay positive and going each day! My OB/GYN has me coming back again next week (last week I went and BP was 140/90 and this week it was 120/80 so it's coming down)...I am still on meds to control BP and prevent anything from happening. The follow up that I am most anxious about is neuro on Thrusday - hopefully if I will be cleared then (need prayers especially this week)!!!!

God bless!
Love, Erika

Anniversary Date with Addison!

Mike and I have been married for 9 years and it's hard to believe how fast the time has flown by...each day we are more in love than the day before and despite all the challenges, stress, difficulties, etc, each day has brought us closer together as a couple and as parents.

Due to not being able to have Addison home, we decided to have a dinner date close to the house at the famous Fox Valley Restaurant so that we could dash over to the NICU and see Addison TOGETHER (we've only been able to do that while I was in the hospital so this was a special treat)! Dinner was yummy but we have to admit the restaurant is a little strange...=)

We arrived at the NICU just in time to see Addi have her vital signs taken, including being weighed and I got to change a diaper for the first time (Mike's gotten to do this a few times due to his timing but this was a first for me). We had a onsie that Noah used when he was in the NICU and it was almost a little too fitted! We talked to the NP and she said that Addison is looking really good. We are up to 30 cc's per feeding and they are alternating NG tube and bottle as tolerated. Sometimes when babies are so tiny like Addison, it's hard for them to coordinating breathing and eating at the same time! So Addison is getting bigger and working on her eating/breathing in order to get out and come home to us!!!

Anniversary Date...the pictures!

Thank you to the Prince of Peace Middle School Youth Group!!!

The POP Middle School Youth group leader, Whitney, brought by some diapers and the most awesome "Get Well Soon" card from the youth group while I was in the hospital!!! I have been blessed to have the opportunity to help out some (when I wasn't working) on Wednesday nights! The middle schoolers have been a really great group to work with this year!!!
I miss them dearly and can't wait to see them again! Thank you ALL for the awesome card - it made me smile when I wasn't feeling much like smiling!!!!

Baby shower, just a day before she arrived!

My sister threw me a cute little baby shower on Sunday 10/25/09, just a day before Addison arrived. We hadn't even settled on a name when we had the shower! I had a great time with my friends and family! The pic of me holding up the little outfit is an outfit that Ya-Ya (my sis) made...she's gotten the "sewing bug" and is making some amazing stuff these days!

Addison Rose

Here is our precious Addison Rose! The third picture is from 10/26/09. Addi had to wear a CPAP to help force air into her lungs but she never needed O2! Addison is very feisty and has been pulling at her leads and NG tube - this is a great sign because it shows she is a fighter! Right now, she is breathing on her own and sats have been 98-100%! As of lunch time today, she was up to 3 pounds 4+ ounces and almost up to 20 cc of liquids at feedings (to give you an idea, 5 cc is a tsp!!)
Addison Rose came to us a little early at 32 weeks due to complications with mom. She weighed 3 pounds, 8 ounces and was 16.75 inches long.
